Complete the official online form, pay the e-passport fee and attend the correct passport office or mission for enrolment 2. Bring the original MRP and the identity record required for your age 2. Once the e-passport is issued, the old MRP is cancelled in the system and cannot be used 1.

You do not need to wait for expiry

The e-passport portal says a person may apply even when a current MRP still has validity 1. This is a conversion to the current passport system, not an extension placed in the MRP.

After the new e-passport is issued, the MRP is cancelled automatically in the system and cannot be used 1. Plan any booked travel around the handover and issue dates. Do not expect both passports to remain valid.

Documents for the application

Complete the application from the official e-passport portal. The entries must follow the National Identity Card or the online English Birth Registration Certificate 2. No document attestation is required for the standard e-passport application, and most applicants do not attach a photograph 2.

For a reissue, show the original passport 2. Applicants under 18 use an online English BRC and must give a parent's NID number. Applicants aged 18 to 20 may use an NID or an online English BRC. Applicants over 20 in Bangladesh must use an NID. A Bangladesh mission abroad may accept an online English BRC from an applicant over 20 2.

Bring the original identity record at enrolment. The office may require a technical certificate, government order or no objection certificate when it applies to the information in the form 2.

If information has changed

Use current data in the new application. The portal asks for a professional certificate or student ID for a profession change and a marriage certificate for a marital-status change 3. A change to name, birth date, birth place or a parent's name needs the matching NID or BRC, the previous passport when available, and any further official document requested by the office 3.

A mission may reject a mismatch between the form and the identity record. The Hague mission says the application data must match the NID or online BRC and asks for other records when they apply 4. Review spellings and dates before submission.

Fee and service choice

The conversion uses the normal e-passport fee table. Inside Bangladesh, the official fee ranges from Tk 4,025 for a 48-page five-year book on regular delivery to Tk 13,800 for a 64-page ten-year book on super express delivery 5. Applicants under 18 receive only a 48-page five-year book 2.

The central mission table uses US dollar base rates and offers regular or express service 5. The handling mission may publish a local-currency amount and its own payment method. Check the mission page before making an overseas payment.

Applying at a mission abroad

The Hague mission accepts a valid MRP holder who has an NID or an online Digital Birth Certificate 4. It requires personal attendance and a prior appointment for biometric enrolment 4. Its checklist includes the printed form, appointment confirmation, original passport, identity record and proof of local residence 4.

Mission procedures are local. A document or appointment rule on The Hague page applies there, not automatically at every embassy. Select the Bangladesh mission in your country and follow its current checklist.

Lost MRP

If the MRP was lost or stolen, make a general diary entry or police report promptly. The portal requires the old passport photocopy and the report with the application for a replacement 2. An overseas mission may require the report to state the lost passport number and the applicant's name 6.
