Start with the mission serving your address
The central instruction says an application should go to the passport office or Bangladesh mission linked to the applicant's present address 1. A mission can require an appointment, proof of lawful residence and personal attendance. The Hague mission requires all three for applicants in its area 2.
Do not copy another country's appointment or payment route. Mission pages can use different currencies, bank accounts, service days and document lists. Find the official Bangladesh mission site for the country where you live.
Central mission fee table
The e-passport portal publishes these US dollar base rates for applications at Bangladesh missions 3. The table offers regular and express service. It does not list super express at missions 3.
Why the amount at the counter may differ
A mission can publish a local-currency collection amount. Abu Dhabi lists UAE dirham totals and says its figures include a 10% Wage Earners' Welfare Fund surcharge 4. Its 48-page five-year general rates are AED 405 regular and AED 610 express 4. This is an Abu Dhabi example, not a worldwide price.
The same mission says passport fees are non-refundable and asks applicants to use its named payment route 4. Check the date on the local fee page before paying. Exchange-rate changes and an authorised local charge can make a mission total differ from a simple conversion of the central USD figure 3,4.
Documents and identity rules
Complete the online e-passport application from the official portal 1. For a reissue, show the original passport. Applicants over 20 at a mission may use an NID or an online English BRC under the central instruction 1. The form must follow the accepted identity record 1.
The Hague checklist asks for the printed form, appointment confirmation, original passport and copy, NID and online BRC copies, and proof of lawful residence 2. It asks student-discount applicants for a valid enrolment letter and student ID 2. Those local checklist items show what The Hague collects. Use the checklist published by your own mission.
Biometrics and processing time
The Hague requires the applicant to attend the embassy for biometric enrolment 2. Geneva says applicants over six must attend in person for fingerprints, a photograph and other enrolment steps 5. A child or an applicant whose biometrics cannot be captured may face a different local checklist 1,5.
Processing targets abroad are mission-specific. Abu Dhabi states 30 working days for regular service and 15 working days for express service 4. These are not the domestic targets and should not be applied to another mission. Delivery can depend on production and transfer from Bangladesh.
MRP holders and changed details
A valid MRP holder may apply for an e-passport before the MRP expires 6. Once the e-passport is issued, the MRP is cancelled automatically and cannot be used 6.
If a name, birth date, birth place or parent's name has changed, the portal asks for the matching NID or BRC, the previous passport when available and further official records 7. A mission can request more evidence when records do not match. Resolve identity-record errors before booking travel around a new passport.
