What the B visa covers
The 2026 visa policy published by the Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi lists investment analysis, business meetings, trade fairs, product checks and supplier negotiations among B-visa purposes 2. The Washington mission describes trade, commerce and investment as qualifying activity 1.
Meetings, commercial discussions and investment visits fit that purpose. Taking a job does not. Washington states that paid or unpaid employment is prohibited for the B-visa holder 1.
The core company documents
Washington requires an invitation from a recognised Bangladesh business or local sponsor, a letter from the company sending the traveller, and the host's trade licence, registration paper or another government-issued certificate 1.
The Hanoi policy names an invitation from a registered Bangladesh business, the host's incorporation certificate or trade licence and a recommendation from a chamber or association 2. A mission can request bank, tax or registration records too 1,2.
Validity is not the same as stay
Washington and Ottawa say a B visa may be issued for up to one year with single, double or multiple entries, with a stay of no more than 60 days on each visit 1,5. The Hanoi 2026 policy states up to 90 days per entry 2. This official wording is not aligned, and a mission can grant less.
Ottawa states that validity begins on the issue date, not the proposed travel date 5. Check both the visa expiry date and the allowed stay written on the visa.
Extensions need Bangladesh records
The Hanoi policy lists the first-visa papers, passport pages with the visa and arrival stamp, a chamber or association recommendation and a police report for an extension 2. Washington describes possible longer extensions through DIP when the supporting record is accepted 1.
An extension is a new decision, not a right created by the first visa. Apply before the authorised stay ends.
Use your serving mission's fee and checklist
The central portal starts the form, but the serving mission receives the passport and supporting papers 3. Fees differ by nationality and mission under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs table 4.
Mission checklists are not identical. Toronto asks its business applicants for the host invitation, host trade licence and a Canadian organisation letter 6. Use that as a local rule for Toronto, not as a worldwide filing method.
