Bangladesh's visa.gov.bd service lets you complete and submit a visa form online, but it does not issue a finished visa online 1. After the form is submitted, the official process tells you to print it and take or send it with your passport, supporting papers and proof of payment to the Bangladesh mission or visa office 1,2. A page calling this an electronic application does not turn it into an end-to-end e-visa.

What visa.gov.bd does

The Department of Immigration and Passports runs the Bangladesh Online MRV Portal 1. It supports a new visa application, visa extension, No Visa Required endorsement and visa-on-arrival forms 1.

The portal collects the application details and produces a form. Its own third step tells the applicant to submit the printed form, required documents and fee payment proof to the nearest visa office or Bangladesh mission 1.

Why this is not a complete e-visa

A complete e-visa is normally issued as a digital travel permission without a visa sticker process at a mission. Bangladesh's current portal still sends the applicant to a visa office with the printed form and passport 1,2.

Some official pages use terms such as online visa application or electronic form. Read those words as a description of the form stage, not proof that a visa has been granted.

The steps after the online form

Choose the Bangladesh mission that serves where you live. Complete the official form, upload any items the form asks for, print and sign it, then follow that mission's current submission and payment directions 1,2.

Mission rules can differ. Toronto asks for a digital upload plus a hard-copy photograph and passport for visa printing 2. Another mission can set a different appointment, mail or collection method.

  • Use only visa.gov.bd for the central form 1
  • Check the serving mission's document list 2
  • Pay by the method named by that mission
  • Keep the application reference and receipt

Fees are not one worldwide price

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes a country fee table, and missions publish local collection amounts 3,4. The charge can depend on nationality, number of entries and the mission processing the case.

Toronto, for example, listed C$85 for a single-entry visa and C$165 for a multiple-entry visa from 1 May 2026 4. Those Canadian rates are not a worldwide tariff.

Do not confuse three different routes

A mission visa, a visa on arrival and a No Visa Required endorsement have different eligibility tests. Filling an online form does not make a traveller eligible for any one of them 1.

If a mission visa is required, finish that process before travel. A visa-on-arrival decision belongs to the immigration officer at the port, and an airline may still ask for proof that the passenger can enter.

Common questions

Can I get a Bangladesh visa entirely online?

No. The official portal says to print the form and submit it with the passport, papers and payment proof to a visa office or mission 1.

Is visa.gov.bd official?

Yes. It is the Department of Immigration and Passports' online MRV application portal 1.

Will I receive a PDF e-visa by email?

The published process does not promise that. It directs the applicant to a mission or visa office after the online form 1,2.

What is the online visa fee?

There is no single worldwide amount. Check the fee for your nationality and serving mission 3,4.

Does the online form guarantee approval?

No. It is an application step, not a grant of entry permission 1.

Rules and fees change. Check the official site linked on this page before you apply or pay. Spotted an error? Email [email protected] with the official link.
