The Schengen visa fee

The Italian Embassy in Dhaka announced the rise from €80 to €90 from 11 June 2024 1. The child fee for ages six to eleven rose from €40 to €45, and children under six remained fee-free 1.

That is the visa application processing charge. It does not include the VFS service fee, photographs, insurance, translations, transport or an optional service.

Where an applicant submits

The embassy states that Italy visa applications in Bangladesh can be lodged only through VFS 2. Its page names the official link and centres, including Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet details.

A broker outside that route cannot issue an Italian visa. Book and verify through the embassy-linked VFS page, then keep the payment receipt.

Tourism documents that affect cost

The 2026 embassy checklist asks for the Schengen application, photographs, passport, itinerary, accommodation, financial evidence and travel medical insurance 3. The insurance must cover the whole Schengen area and at least €30,000 for medical treatment, hospital care and repatriation.

The passport must remain valid for at least three months after the visa validity ends 3. A weak or missing document can lead to more time and non-refundable spending.

Funds and invitations

The tourism checklist asks for personal bank statements from a bank operating in Bangladesh for the previous six months 3. A family or friend visit needs the prescribed invitation plus the host's identity and residence evidence.

An invitation does not remove the need to show the trip purpose, funds and intention to leave. Use the checklist matching the trip type.

Work applications need prior approval

The embassy separates work visas from tourism and directs applicants with a valid post-22 October 2024 Nulla Osta to its named work-visa portal 2. A Nulla Osta is the Italian approval supporting the work route.

Do not pay someone who offers a tourist appointment as a substitute for a work authorisation. Match the employer, Nulla Osta, passport and work category before submission.
